5 Tips for Buying a Lawn Mower in 2022

Kubota Zero Turn

As we enter into what we hope to be the final leg of the pandemic, we and our customers are hearing more and more about supply shortages and wait lists. Trust me I don’t like saying it as much as you don’t like hearing but the reality of our current situation is such that all equipment is very hard to get and probably will be for the near future. That said, I can confidently say that now is still the best time to purchase a new mower. Promotional interest rates are still amazing and the prices aren’t ever going to be as low as they are today. So I’ve laid out 5 tips for the would be lawn mower purchaser to help make the process as painless as possible, heck even enjoyable!

  1. Go to a dealership you trust
I take great pride in working for a family owned dealership that manages to retain its moral compass, even in trying times. Make sure you’re going to a local dealership that will take care of you after you leave the sales floor and that isn’t going to inflate the price while you’re on it. Our personal motto has always been “Integrity endures'',  make sure your local dealership is the same way.

  2. Buy Early
This is going to be the big one. I know our dealership has a pretty good selection of new Kubota and Dixie Chopper zero turns. We’ve been notified by both of these companies that the supply is going to be limited this year. So if you want the best selection, get in before we’re out of mowers.

  3. Do your research

With such short supply it’s never been more important to know what you want and what you want to spend for a mower. With such a short supply you might be at the salesperson’s mercy, who is likely trying to get you to buy what they have. If you followed steps 1 and 2 you’ll be in good shape and they will pair you with the perfect lawn mower. But it is still important to be informed of the size requirements for your property along with the general prices of equipment, if possible, and to know which questions are going to be important to ask.

  4. Don’t fear a Waitlist
The fortunate thing we’re seeing through all of this is  that mowers are still trickling in. If you have your heart set on a specific model, chances are that the dealership of your choice has it on order and is just waiting for it to ship. While we might not always have a time frame, I have seen a lot of “just in time” deals work out. You can always pivot to another similar model in stock model if you’re in a time crunch.

  5. Have Fun!
I love selling lawn mowers, I love the positive energy and I try to cultivate a low stress environment. I, and other salespeople, are trained to help walk you through the process. I can’t stress enough how important it is to sit back, armed with research and questions, in a dealership you trust, and pair yourself up with a lawnmower that you’re happy with for the next 10 years.

While the buying process has changed over the course of the last few years. It’s still the best time to buy a lawn mower. If you’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on a new mower give us a call or shoot us an email.

Happy Mowing,
